Annual MLK Celebration at Savannah State University Today

Savannah State University’s campus observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day will be held on Thursday, January 12, at 7 p.m. in King-Frazier student center.

The program will be led by Carl Gilliard, member of the Georgia House of Representatives, speaking on the theme of "53 Years After King's Dream." The program will be followed by a candlelight vigil in Alexis Circle. In 2011, Gilliard opened the doors of the Family Life Center, which works with the community to provide after school programs, re-entry programs, nutrition cooking classes, emergency food giveaways and more.

The event is sponsored by SSU's Office of Student Life and the Delta Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

This event is free and open to the public.
