Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

On the morning of January 10, Savannah Country Day School welcomed the president of the University of Georgia to its campus for a tour and opportunity to meet with students and faculty. President Morehead was accompanied by Mr. Griffin Doyle, Vice President for Government Relations at the University of Georgia and a 1971 graduate of Country Day, and Mr. Don Waters, CEO of Brasseler USA, Inc. and a member of the Georgia Board of Regents.

President Morehead spoke to Upper School students about areas of growth and new initiatives at the University of Georgia, including the Experiential Learning Requirement where all undergraduate students are now required to incorporate a hands-on opportunity such as faculty-led research, study abroad, internships and other experiences.

“We are extremely grateful for President Morehead’s time on our campus,” stated Country Day Head of School Kef Wilson. “The fact that he traveled to Savannah solely to spend time with our students and faculty was a tremendous honor for our school.”

This was President Morehead’s second visit to Savannah Country Day’s campus. He previously visited in his role as the Director of the Honors Program.
