Prepared Childbirth Saturday Session

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, January 7, at Memorial University Medical Center

This full-day course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit. Mended Hearts

11 a.m. to noon., Wednesday January 18, Cardiac Rehab Conference Room in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

Mended Hearts is the largest cardiovascular peer-to-peer support network in the world. The Mended Hearts Chapter at Memorial’s volunteers will be trained to visit heart patients in the hospital and organize support groups. The chapter meets from 11 a.m. to noon on the third Wednesday of every month in the Cardiac Rehab Conference Room in the Heart and Vascular Institute on Memorial University Medical Center’s campus. Basic Breastfeeding Class

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, Memorial University Medical Center

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include information on preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
