The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Joins Bank of America “Museums on Us” Program

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is geared up for another weekend with the Bank of America Museums on Us program, which provides Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders free general admission to more than 150 of the nation’s finest arts, cultural and educational institutions during the first full weekend of every month.

Museums on Us is a national program enabling Bank of America card holders free access to museums enrolled in the program. Beginning with the first full weekend in January, 2017, visitors to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force who present an active Bank of America or Merrill Lynch debit or credit card and an active, valid photo ID, will receive FREE GENERAL ADMISSION to the Museum on the first full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of each month. More than 150 cultural institutions across the United States in 98 cities and 33 states participate in the program which is unique benefit to Bank of America customers. The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force will join organizations such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Henry Ford Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and others.

The following weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are available for FREE admission for Bank of America and Merrill Lynch debit and credit card holders who must present a photo ID to gain one free general admission which is limited to the cardholder and excludes fundraising events, special exhibitions and ticketed shows

About the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force

The museum exists to educate visitors about the character, courage, valor and patriotism of the brave individuals who fought in the Eighth Air Force, the largest air armada in history. The museum boasts films, exhibits, artifacts and archival materials telling the stories of individuals who served in the storied Eighth Air Force, whose horrendous sacrifices made victory in World War II possible.

The museum covers the World War I aftermath and prelude to World War II, the rise of Hitler, the invasion of Poland, Scandinavia, France and the Low Countries, the entry of Japan into the War and the entry of the United States in World War II.

Museum highlights include a fully-restored B-17 “Flying Fortress” and the multimedia “Mission Experience,” an immersive simulated bombing mission in a special theater utilizing actual combat footage.

The Museum is a Center for Character Education and serves 37,000 children annually through “Character Counts,” fully-funded by the Museum. The museum serves 62,000 children annually through guided tours, traveling exhibits, Summer Camps and Day Camps and welcomes over 100,000 visitors every year.
