United Way of the Coastal Empire Receives $12,500 from South State Bank to Help Hurricane Matthew Relief Effort

United Way of the Coastal Empire’s President and CEO Gregg Schroeder louded the philanthropic efforts of South State Bank and its employees.  South State Bank’s Savannah Regional President Holden T. Hayes presented United Way with a $12,500 check to help provide disaster relief to victims and families affected by Hurricane Matthew. 

“This is a great way to start the New Year,” said Gregg Schroeder.  “The generous contribution from South State Bank and its employees will allow us to further help more individuals and families affected by the disaster.”

“South State Bank recognizes the value of United Way in improving lives in our community. This disaster has touched many of our employees, customers, neighbors and friends,” said Holden T. Hayes, Savannah regional president for South State Bank. “We hope this contribution can provide some immediate support to those in need within the local communities we serve, and our thoughts continue to be with those who have been impacted.”

South State Bank has been supporting United Way since 2002.  Their total contributions consists of the employee pledges and corporate commitment.

United Way of the Coastal Empire exceeded its fundraising goal last November, raising nearly $8.5 million. Donations like this help the organization expand its community effort.
