Georgia Tech-Savannah to Offer Free Occupational Safety and Health Association Seminars

Georgia Tech-Savannah, an OSHA Authorized Training Institute Education Center, is pleased to announce it will host a series of its most popular occupational safety and health training seminars free of charge to areas businesses. Introduction to Machinery and Machine Safeguarding (OSHA 7100), Introduction to Emergency Planning (OSHA 7105), and Introduction to OSHA for Small Businesses (OSHA 7510) will all be offered on the Savannah campus at 210 Technology Circle February 27-March 1.
 
“Georgia Tech-Savannah provides occupational safety and health education from top industry professionals in order to keep those in our region and beyond current on the most recent OSHA standards and safety practices,” said Diane Lee, director of Georgia Tech-Savannah. “By offering a wide array of occupational safety and health courses, we give the opportunity to impact participants businesses and colleagues by reducing accidents, lowering workers’ compensation premiums, saving money, and many more benefits.”

OSHA 7100: Introduction to Machinery & Machine Safeguarding
Monday, February 27, 2017
8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
This seminar is designed to increase the participant’s knowledge and skill in proper machine safeguarding techniques, and to highlight the benefits of guarding various types of machinery. It is the employer’s responsibility to identify and select the safeguard necessary to protect employees and others in the work area as well as provide appropriate training in safe work practices. Knowing when and how to properly safeguard machinery can reduce or eliminate the potential for accidents and injuries.
 
OSHA 7105: Introduction to Emergency Planning
Tuesday, February 28, 2017
8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
This seminar is designed to assist companies in protecting workers from emergencies in the workplace. This seminar will briefly cover issues such as chemical spills, severe weather, fire, workplace violence, and homeland defense. Additionally, this program will cover the plans required by OSHA to deal with these issues. This is a six hour seminar with the first four hours dedicated to Emergency Action Plans and general site safety and the remaining four dedicated to Emergency Response Plans.
 
OSHA 7510- Introduction to OSHA for Small Businesses
Wednesday, March 1, 2017
8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Participants will gain an understanding of OSHA operations and procedures and learn how to work with OSHA to prevent or reduce injuries and illnesses in the workplace. Included in the course is information on the background of OSHA standards, the inspection process, implementing a safety and health program and assistance available to small businesses.

These courses are designed for those who are new to or are continuing to build their knowledge of the safety and health industry, serving on a safety committee, a human resource professional, or a supervisor for safety and health protocols. Participants will gain the building blocks of knowledge for all other safety and health related courses, complying with OSHA standards.
