The Kiwanis Club of Savannah along with energy company Kinder Morgan, Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport Commission, and Smart & Associates, Attorneys at Law will sponsor the annual local STAR Student-STAR Teacher Awards Luncheon to recognize and honor the STAR Students and their STAR Teachers from nineteen public and private Chatham County High Schools.

The Awards Luncheon will be held on Tuesday February 7^th from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center on Hutchinson Island.

The top Chatham County STAR Student and STAR Teacher will move on to the regional competition in Statesboro in March. The regional winners will then compete in Atlanta for the State STAR Student and STAR Teacher designation.

The STAR Program is sponsored on the state level by PAGE (Professional Association of Georgia Educators), the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Department of Education and is now in its 59th year. 

STAR Students are selected on the basis of their SAT scores and class standing/scholastic averages.
