West Chatham YMCA Child Learning Center Director Receives Statewide Recognition

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Monday, March 27th, 2017

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia is proud to announce that West Chatham YMCA Child Learning Center Director, Courtney Robinson, has been named as a Bright from the Start Quality Rated Ambassador for the Southeast region. Robinson is one of only seven ambassadors chosen from across the state of Georgia for this prestigious position. She was selected following an application process based on the recommendation of the West Chatham Y’s Child Care Resource Representative and her commitment to quality childcare for the children and families of our community.

The West Chatham YMCA’s Child Learning Center received a 2-star Quality Rating in November of 2016. Throughout the review process, Courtney demonstrated her impressive knowledge of early learning curriculum, quality education and statewide licensing requirements. In her time as the Director at the West Chatham Y, Courtney has demonstrated her expertise and commitment to providing a safe, enriching and healthy place for children to learn, grow and thrive.

As a Quality Rated Ambassador, Courtney will participate in a series of trainings and seminars along with hosting a regional training session. She will share her experiences with the Quality Rating process and challenge other area directors to complete the voluntary Quality Rated review. Currently, only just about 18% of an estimated 5,000 eligible childcare facilities in the state of Georgia have received a Quality Rating. Through her role as an Ambassador, Courtney will mentor and engage other facilities in the hopes of increasing these numbers and building a strong network of child learning centers in the Southeast region.

“I am incredibly proud of Courtney,” says Gina Casagrande, West Chatham YMCA Branch Director. “Her leadership and dedication have made our Child Learning Center what it is today. She is and will continue to be a wonderful advocate for the Quality Rated program through this new role as Ambassador.”
