Armstrong State University’s Director of Multicultural Affairs Nashia Whittenburg has been selected to speak at the 2017 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Closing the Achievement Gap: Student Success in Higher Education Conference in Washington D.C. in June.

“NASPA has been an important part of my professional higher education career since graduate school,” said Whittenburg. “To have the opportunity to represent Armstrong on a national level at a NAPSA conference is simply amazing."

The conference will focus on how student affairs practitioners can develop effective approaches to support students who struggle to complete their degree. Whittenburg will deliver a presentation, “#OMACARES: Multiculturalism as Intentional Inclusive and a Channel for Student Success.” She will also participate in workshops designed to help administrators experience life as minority students, exploring the economic, emotional, legal and physical challenges they may face in pursuit of a college education.
