Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District, a boutique hotel located at 201 West Bay St. in the vibrant City Market area of downtown Savannah, is pleased to announce Chef Jose Rodriguez will lead its neighborhood, locally-sourced eatery, Five Oaks Taproom.

Rodriquez comes to Savannah and Hotel Indigo’s Five Oaks Taproom from his most recent position as food and beverage director at the Hotel Indigo in Pittsburgh. However, his work experiences began long before Pittsburgh and includes travels to places like Amsterdam, Holland, Dublin, Ireland, Cologne, Germany, London, England, Madrid, Spain, Lima, Peru, the Republic of Panama and Cancun, Mexico. He has worked in the kitchens of Four Seasons, Fiesta Americana Hotel, Hyatt, Grand Melia and JW Marriott and earned three AAA Diamond awards for three different restaurants along the way.

“Savannah is a magical place and I’m looking forward to coupling my background and diverse travels with the southern culture that makes this place so special,” said Rodriguez. “In fact, we’re working on some new and exciting menu items in the kitchen at Five Oaks Taproom and hope to unveil our new summer menu very soon. It’s very important to me the food we’re serving is sourced as much as possible from local purveyors and we’re plating fresh, flavorful dishes for our guests.”

Originally from New York City, Rodriguez studied at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, New Jersey and earned an associates degree in Culinary Arts in 1998.
