Friday, June 23rd, 2017

The Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus is delighted to welcome Frances C. Colón, who will serve as Development Associate for this regionally renowned musical organization.

As a valued team member, Colón will support Executive Director Terri O’Neil by assisting in the Philharmonic’s mission of bringing high-quality classical music productions and educational programs to the Coastal Empire. Frances will focus on donor relations and recognition, special events, volunteer initiatives, as well as various organizational tasks. Additionally, Colón will help support marketing campaign strategies while collaborating with the Philharmonic’s public relations agency to reach media representatives across traditional and digital channels. She’ll ensure brand standards and strategies are consistently maintained and applied through all communication platforms.

The Savannah Philharmonic, which kicks off its 2017-18 season on Sept. 16, made its choral debut in October 2008, followed by the Philharmonic Orchestra in January 2009. It is under the leadership of Artistic Director and Conductor Peter Shannon and Chorusmaster Dr. Monica Dekle.

“We’re are thrilled to have Frances join our committed team of professionals at Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus” O’Neil said. “Frances brings a great deal of energy and expertise to the organization, and I’m confident she will help us continue the valued relationships we cultivate with our donors and sponsors."

Colón, born in Ft. Lewis, Washington, traveled the world with her military family. In 2008, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Psychology from the University of West Georgia. Colón moved to Savannah in 2010 and established skills in the development, special events, and administrative fields during her six years with Historic Savannah Foundation. She also acted as a front-of-house manager for the Savannah Music Festival in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons. This experience, coupled with her own personal interest in orchestral and chorus music, has resulted in a deep appreciation for the arts and a love of live music.
