Savannah's TailsSpin Pet Stuff is a committed business partner to Islands High School's Veterinary Science program in Savannah, assisting with opportunities of growth and development. It is one of the two only veterinary science programs in the whole state of Georgia. TailsSpin has three stores in Savannah, Pooler, and Whitemarsh Island, GA, and is a proud retailer of the Bentley’s Pet Stuff family.

This past week, TailsSpin Pet Stuff provided activities for, and helped kick off the Veterinary Science program's annual Summer Camp, being offered to the surrounding middle school students of the city of Savannah and Chatham County.  The camp showcased internationally-known magician Marc Dunston, and the award winning Disc Dog competition team Border PAWtrol.  Along with visits to animal hospitals and the Oatland Island Wildlife Refuge, the camps are designed to provide the students with activities to help them decide if they want to pursue a veterinary curriculum during their high school years.

Throughout the school calendar, TailsSpin Pet Stuff has helped with fundraising efforts and arranging animal care related field trips. In addition, it provides workshops involving pet food manufacturers, local animal hospitals, local veterinarians, trainers, and other pet vendors.  These efforts have enriched the students’ education and knowledge to present a better understanding of the multi-billion dollar pet industry.

TailsSpin Pet Stuff has also encouraged the development of entrepreneurship within the Island High School student body, as part of the school’s Future Farmers of America program, by providing industry assistance and feedback to classmates producing pet treats.  TailsSpin even arranged up a "Shark Tank" like setting for students to pitch their pet treat recipes.  Last year, TailsSpin Pet Stuff, was able to secure time, through tele-conferencing, with pet industry legends, such as Phil Cooper. 

“As a co-owner of TailsSpin Pet Stuff, we truly feel and believe that it is our duty to be supportive with this wonderful group of students.  It’s a win-win opportunity for all involved.,” said Jeff Manley.  “Passing on information and knowledge, will hopefully, help open their mind and be a bit prepared through their pursue career paths within this immense pet industry,” adds Lisa Senafe, president of the Bentley’s Pet Stuff.
