Realtor Safety Night to Benefit Savannah’s Rape Crisis Center September 7th

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Monday, August 28th, 2017

Empire Construction is proud to once again partner with Savannah’s Rape Crisis Center to host the organization’s annual “Realtor Safety Night”. The event which is free to all realtors, has been generously sponsored by Empire Construction and will take place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 under the majestic oaks of Cohen’s Retreat, 5715 Skidaway Road, Savannah.

The event provides vital information about realtor protection and avoiding potentially vulnerable situations. Real estate agents are invited to this evening which will include presentations, a goody bag, light hors d'oeuvres and each guest will receive a complimentary drink ticket. A cash bar will be available and donations to the Rape Crisis Center are appreciated.

This awareness program is designed to promote safety among realtors and women who travel for work. The program brings into focus a high-risk profession where the top three crimes against women are robbery, rape and homicide.

“We are looking forward to partnering with Empire Construction for another great event. Awareness is such an important part of what we do at the Rape Crisis Center and Empire’s generous sponsorships make it possible,” Rape Crisis Center Executive Director Kesha Gibson-Carter said. “Realtor Safety Month brings to attention one of the professions which unfortunately has a high vulnerability to attacks, and this evening will combine valuable information with networking in a great Savannah location.”

The Rape Crisis Center was established in August 1975 when the first group of volunteers opened a telephone crisis line. Decades later, the center has evolved into a comprehensive agency serving Savannah and the surrounding area. The Rape Crisis Center provides resources and advocacy to victims of rape and sexual assault, and prevention education to youth and adults. The center’s services and programs include a 24-hour crisis line, hospital accompaniment, survivor groups, help going to court and reporting to the police, and bullying prevention education, as well as elementary, middle and high school programs.

Empire Construction partnered with the Rape Crisis Center earlier this year and is committed to supporting the organization in its efforts to protect individuals at risk.  Empire often works closely with Realtors by offering construction services and advice to home-buyers and sellers, and wants to be proactive in ensuring the safety of its business partners as well as members of the community.   Empire Construction specializes in residential, commercial and restoration projects and ensures that every project is completed on time and within budget.

This event is free and open to realtors. Donations to benefit the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire will be accepted on site.
