Wednesday, September 6th, 2017

Sterling Seacrest Partners, Inc. hosted a networking event and panel discussion on Cyber Liability and Breach Response Thursday, August 31st at the Savannah Morning News Auditorium. The event was attended by various business and community leaders with a focus on innovative ways to transfer cyber risk and specifics on how to respond when your company experiences a cyber breach.

Following introductions by Sterling Seacrest Partners Partner Nick Puhala, the panel discussion was moderated by Sterling Seacrest Partners Client Executive Ryan Sewell. The panel included industry experts Tyler O’Connor, CRC Insurance Services, Inc.; Bryan F. Thornton, Net Reaction, LLC; and Diana McKenzie, HunterMaclean.

According to the 2017 Cyber Incident and Breach Response reported by the Online Trust Alliance, their analysis reveals that “the true number of incidents is over twenty times that of consumer data breaches publically reported.” Their findings show that over 82,000 incidents were documented but as the majority of incidents are not reported, the real number of DDoS attacks could in fact exceed 250,000.

“It is imperative that businesses are proactive in their preparation of a possible cyber breach,” said Sewell. “We are excited to bring this group, one that is extremely knowledgeable and well-respected in our industry, together to explain the importance of being proactive and how to react should a breach occur.”

Panelists noted the importance of investing in a cyber liability policy as it provides multiple resources to a business should a breach occur; specifically noting it allows a business to respond in a matter of minutes and hours and rather than days or weeks.
