Friday, November 10th, 2017

SCCPSS staff learned late this afternoon of the passing of long time Spencer Elementary School Principal Andrea Williams.  Our condolences are extended to Ms. Williams’s family, as well as her school family, who will surely feel her absence.

SCCPSS Superintendent Dr. Ann Levett says of Mrs. Williams, “Her passion for education and her students showed in the energy and enthusiasm she brought to her school each day. That passion and caring is what will be remembered by her school family and throughout this community. We have lost a valued educator who meant so much to so many. Principal Williams will be greatly missed.”

Savannah-Chatham Schools has no additional information surrounding the details of the sudden passing of Principal Williams.

Spencer remains open and will operate on normal operating hours.  School Social Workers and Grief Counselors will be on site at Spencer Elementary for any student, staff or family member who may need additional support or counseling.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the Williams family as we all mourn this tragic loss. Additional information regarding funeral services will be provided as it becomes available.

Principal Williams was a proud graduate of Savannah High School and Savannah State University.  She started her career in education in 1977 and eventually was hired with SCCPSS in 1983.  She taught at Isle of hope and Largo-Tibet before being promoted to Assistant Principal of Pooler Elementary.  She became Principal of Garden City Elementary in 2001 and was transferred to Spencer just over ten years ago in July of 2007.
