Staff Report From Savannah CEO
Friday, December 22nd, 2017
The Critz Tybee Run Fest will celebrate a milestone in 2018, a decade of race events promoting competition, health, fitness, and entertainment for families and friends.
Since the race’s inception in 2009, the Critz Tybee Run Fest has donated over half a million dollars of race proceeds to non-profit organizations that foster education and healthy lifestyles for children in the Coastal Empire. These community grants are made possible from race entries and sponsorships from a large variety of race partners of the Critz Tybee Run Fest.
The 10th anniversary race is set for February 2nd and 3rd and will begin with the Byrd’s Famous Cookie 1/7 Mile Kiddie Run held at 6 p.m. right before the North Beach Bar and Grill 5K on Friday, February 2nd. The kiddie fun run course is along the parking lot at the Tybee Island Lighthouse on North Beach. This race is geared towards young children, with the goal to inspire them to have fun while being active. The Kids Fun Zone, prior to the kid’s race, will be open at 3:30 p.m. and will include kids activities and cookie decorating with the Byrd Cookie Company. North Beach Bar and Grill will host the annual Critz Tybee Run Fest kickoff festivities following the 5K finish with food and drinks.
The Deck 10K, the Chu’s Half Marathon, the Light House Pizza 2.8 Mile Beach Run, which will feature a new beach race course, and the West Rehab 1 Mile race will all take place on Saturday, February 3rd. Finisher’s medals will be presented to each participant and the Final Overall Awards Ceremony will be held at the post race party.
Race registration is open online through January 31st and in person at the Expo on February 1st at Critz BMW.
