Infinity, Inc. Donates to Million Book Challenge

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, March 2nd, 2018

After collecting donations from employees throughout February, Infinity, Inc. is proud to contribute 113 books to the public school system’s Million Book Challenge. The staff of 25, along with friends at Segway of Savannah on MLK, gave new or gently used books of grades K-5 reading levels to support the SCCPSS Balanced Literacy Initiative.

The goal of the Balanced Literacy Initiative being implemented in the district this year is to put one million books in all local K-5 classrooms. The comprehensive Balanced Literacy reading program involves reading aloud, word work involving vocabulary and lessons in Latin root words, writing, reading with partners and independent reading, and guided reading.

Donations ranged from childhood classics like the Velveteen Rabbit and 80s favorites by Beverly Cleary to the more recent Harry Potter paperbacks. Media Specialists at SCCPSS will sort the books based on reading level, and then classrooms will have their own libraries for students to use.

Cat Battos, Marketing Specialist at Infinity, couldn’t be prouder. “I love working at a company that genuinely cares about our community. Even though many of my coworkers’ kids are too young yet or already out of grade school, they stepped up. Just like giving toys to Union Mission at Christmas and attending Jewels and Jeans to support America’s Second Harvest, these people are continuously generous and involved. It’s really heartwarming.”
