SSU Hosts Sixth Annual Urban Planning Conference March 30th

Savannah State University’s Master of Science in Urban Studies and Planning program will host the sixth annual Urban Planning Conference, Friday, March 30, 2018, Student Union.
 
This year’s conference theme is “Resilience Planning: Building Healthier, More Equitable and Vibrant Communities,” and will focus on the fundamental elements required for communities to thrive in complex urban environments. It will address creating sustainable urban communities that are resilient to social, economic and environmental uncertainties at local, national and global levels.

The keynote speaker is Tom Sanchez, Ph.D., chair and professor of Urban Affairs and Planning at Virginia Tech. Sanchez will speak on “Smart Cities, Transport and Social Equity.” He will discuss how rapid changes in technology impact critical infrastructure.

Registration is $50 for presenters and participants, or $75 for AICP participants who are seeking CM credits. SSU faculty, staff and students may attend free of charge.
