The Counseling Department at Ogeechee Technical College recently held its first session of Candid Conversation Rap Session on June 12, 2018, entitled Mental Illness: Unleashing the Stigma. Pictured above are Counselor Kristina Brewton and psychology instructor, Koren Tonkin, who discussed stigma, stigmatizing language used when describing individuals with mental illness, reasons people with mental illnesses may not want to get help, recent media news on suicide occurrences, and ways to help a loved one in a mental health crisis.
