Wednesday, June 27th, 2018

Shay Smith, a 2018 Ogeechee Technical College Adult Education program graduate, recently spoke at the Altrusa of Statesboro's monthly meeting at RJ's Grille. Smith shared her journey through the Adult Education program, those who helped her along the way, and how grateful she was for the support that Altrusa provides to students like her. "I am so happy there are people like you who are willing to give so students can take the GED test and begin to achieve their goals," she said.

When an audience member asked if she would attend another college now that she had her GED, Smith said, "I'm going to stick with OTC because they have been so good to me. I'll go to OTC for a business degree and then who knows what God has for me after that."  Smith said her ultimate dream is to start her own business by opening a senior citizen or youth group/support home in the community. Adult Education staff members, Dean Samantha Smith, Adult Education Specialist, Hyedie Badie, and Evans County Lead Instructor, Nancy Holt, were on hand to celebrate Ms. Smith.
