Thomas & Hutton Welcomes Summer Interns

Thomas & Hutton is pleased to introduce our seven summer interns joining us in our Savannah office for the 2018 summer semester.

Chidalu Fab-Ukozor is a GIS Department Intern and a senior at Georgia Southern University pursuing a degree in Geology and minoring in GIS. Alongside the GIS team, Chidalu will assist in aggregating regional data layers such as neighborhood boundaries, zoning, and utilities for T&H’s web-based GIS platform, geothinQ. Chidalu’s previous experience includes interning at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. 

Michael Kochanik is a Water Resources Department Intern and a senior at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Michael will assist the project team with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling support, design calculations, plan production and permitting. Projects Michael will have the opportunity to be involved in include Marsh Cove Fire Station in Jasper County, South Carolina, Springfield Canal Modeling and Casey 2A Drainage Improvements in Savannah, Georgia, Mobley Park State Waters Buffer Variance in Port Wentworth, Georgia, and Effingham County Industrial Development Authority Stormwater Master Planning in Effingham, Georgia. Michael’s previous experience includes working for State Utility Contractors, a general contractor based out of Monroe, North Carolina.

Darby Burk is a Transportation Department Intern and a senior at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. With the Transportation Team, Darby will work on traffic studies, signal designs, and concept development for roadways and roadway designs. Darby is a Team Captain for UGA Miracle and has helped raise almost $20,000 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta since August.

Charles Roberts is a Civil Department Intern and a senior at The University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. During his time at Thomas & Hutton, Charles will be helping with conceptual layouts for a distribution facility under consideration by a T&H client. Charles will also assist with project closeouts. Charles’ previous experience includes a position as a Civil Design Intern for Roberts Civil Engineering on Saint Simons Island and as an Intern for Whiting Turner on the job site for UGA’s Science Learning Center.                                                         

Gray Harrison is a Civil Department Intern and a senior at The University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering. Upon completion of T&H’s Up and Ready CAD training program, Gray will be assisting the project team with creating plan sheet sets, laying out water and sewer alignments, and creating profile and detail sheets.

Brett Emerick is a Civil Department Intern and a senior at Louisiana State University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. During his time at T&H, Brett will perform master planning, site layout design, drafting, material takeoffs, and engineering calculations for residential developments. He is currently working on Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina. Brett’s previous experience includes working as a laborer for Southern Champion Construction.

Wiley Helm is an Environmental Department Intern and junior at Georgia Tech pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering. Wiley will be working on a variety of water and wastewater projects for municipal and private clients including hydraulic analysis/modeling, Computer Aided Design of water distribution and sewer collection system improvements, conceptual planning, report writing, preparation of exhibits, and observation of infrastructure construction.

Collins Sherrill is a Survey Department Intern and Sophoroe at Georgia Tech pursuing a double major in Business and Engineering. Collins will be working with a field crew on the survey for a new waterline to be designed for the new SEDA Business Park in West Chatham County.
