Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors presented a Matthews Children’s Foundation grant in the amount of $1000 to Girls on The Run of Coastal Georgia.

Fox & Weeks has now awarded more than $40,000 in Matthews Children’s Foundation grants since launching the program in 2012. Each time a family purchases a casket at Fox & Weeks, a portion of the cost is donated to the Matthews Children’s Foundation in the name of the deceased and the accumulated funds are distributed quarterly through an application process to area non-profits benefitting children and children’s causes.

Girls on The Run is an organization that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through research-based curricula that includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games during the course of a 10-week program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event.

The Matthews Children’s Foundation is affiliated with the Mathews International Corporation casket division and has delivered millions of dollars in grants throughout the country since its introduction in the early 1990s. Fox & Weeks is the only funeral home in the area actively participating in the Matthews Children’s Foundation program supporting non-profit organizations dedicated to children.

Any organization in the Coastal Empire with the primary purpose of providing for children’s needs is eligible to apply for a Matthews Children’s Foundation grant. To qualify for a Matthews Children’s Foundation grant through Fox & Weeks, an application must be submitted and an organization’s activities must be primarily directed towards the welfare and benefit of children.
