Savannah Weekend Events To Affect Downtown Traffic

Downtown traffic will be affected due to multiple annual events occurring this weekend.

On Thursday, October 25 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. the southbound lane of Bernard Street will be closed from Bryan Street to Congress Street for the Savannah Speed Classic.

On Saturday, October 27 the staging area for the Savannah State Homecoming parade will be closed to traffic starting at 6 a.m. There will be no parking allowed in the staging area which is permitted with the following boundary: Price Street to the west, East Broad Street to the east, Liberty Street to the north and East Gwinnett Street to the south. The City will begin posting “No Parking” signs to alert residents of the event on Wednesday.

The City will enforce noise ordinances which prohibit any sound over 90 decibels until 9 a.m. when the parade begins. At this time, East Broad Street from Gwinnett Street to Broughton Street, Broughton Street and MLK Jr. Boulevard from Broughton Street to Anderson Street will be closed until the parade concludes at approximately 2 p.m. The re-openings of the roads will be staggered as the parade moves through the route.

Starting Saturday, October 27 at 12:00 p.m. and continuing until Sunday, October 28 at 11:59 p.m. Broughton Street will be closed to traffic between Lincoln Street and Abercorn Street for the Savannah College of Art & Design Film Festival.

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 27 the streets surrounding Ellis Square and Barnard Street between Bryan Street and Congress Street will be closed for the Savannah Pride Festival.
