Savannah Philharmonic Unveils Search Process for New Leadership

The Board of Directors of the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus (SPO) announced their plans to search for a new Music Director to replace Peter Shannon who recently announced his decision to pursue other career opportunities at the end of the tenth season in May of 2019.

A search committee will be announced to include board members, musicians, and staff at SPO as well as respected leaders in the Savannah community. To lead the search for a new Musical Director, SPO is pleased to announce that the organization has retained the services of Henry Fogel as artistic consultant and search facilitator.  Mr. Fogel is one of the best known and most influential performing arts administrators in the USA and provides consulting services for a select number of musical organizations every year. Henry Fogel is a former President of the League of American Orchestras 2003-2008, and before that was President of the Chicago Symphony from 1985 - 2003.  His illustrious career includes the position as the Executive Director of the National Symphony Orchestra and Manager of the New York Philharmonic.  He is also Dean Emeritus of Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
