Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Thursday, December 6th, 2018

Greenbriar Children’s Center’s inaugural holiday fundraising concert, “The Gift of Song: Youth Choirs Sing for Greenbriar,” will feature some of the Coastal Empire’s best children’s musical organizations and several celebrities from the local music scene.

The performance is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. All proceeds from the event, held at the Trustees Theatre on Broughton Street, will benefit Greenbriar, which cares for and shelters abused, neglected and runaway children in the Coastal Empire.

The choral festival, designed to get patrons in the holiday spirit, will feature many renowned children’s choirs, including the Savannah Children’s Choir, Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts, Savannah Classical Academy, Butler Elementary, Hesse Elementary, Islands High School, and the Savannah Christian Prep Show Choir. The performance will spotlight these talented young vocal artists singing carols and holiday favorites, mixed with a few nontraditional pieces. The concert finale will have all the participating choirs come together on stage to treat the audience to a powerful, joint rendition of “Joy to the World,” conducted by baritone Kyle Siddons. Siddons, a classically-trained professional musician who studied at the Manhattan School of Music, has performed with industry greats around the nation and now directs the choral program at Savannah Classical Academy.

Tickets to “The Gift of Song,” which are only $25, are now available online at SavannahBoxOffice.com, and all proceeds will benefit Greenbriar Children’s Center.

“We are excited to be hosting this concert for the Savannah community, and we hope this gets us all in the holiday spirit while we enjoy listening to classic holiday songs,” Greenbriar Executive Director Gena Taylor said. “Greenbriar is grateful to the youth choirs participating in this concert that will aid our organization, and for the community’s support. Please come out and join us for a great cause!”
