Through a joint partnership, the redevelopment of 2400 Bull Street in Savannah’s Starland District is underway. Located on the corner of 40th and Bull streets, the historic building was formerly home to David's Supermarket, Savannah's first supermarket which opened in 1936, and most recently a Save-A-Lot grocery store.

“It’s a very special time here in Starland District,” said Beth Vantosh, local real estate broker and owner of Vantosh Realty Group. “The vibrancy and uniqueness of the neighborhood is quite remarkable. There’s really nowhere like Starland anywhere else in the city, which is why revitalization of buildings like the one at 2400 Bull Street are so important. We want to see this place filled with renewed purpose and standing for another 80 years.”

According to a local news report, the former grocery store was considered a fixture in the neighborhood for over 70 years and was recognized for being one of the first self-service grocery stores in the area. Over the last two decades, the neighborhood has experienced a steady progression of artistic, residential and business growth.

The Starland District, a “vanguard arts district” as noted by The New York Times, is blossoming. In 2019, the area will continue to enjoy major investments coming into the neighborhood, multiple new restaurants including Savannah’s first food truck park, pizza, tiki bar, and Puerto Rican food concepts, and multimillion-dollar developments including The Starland Village and SCAD’s new Victory Village.

The space at 2400 Bull Street is currently under construction with plans to return the structure to its original bones with special care being taken to preserve any historic architectural details. Future tenant(s) will have the ability to create and customize a viable layout and design to suit their individual business model.
