Women's Leadership Conference Returns to Savannah State March 8th

Savannah State University (SSU) will present the annual Women’s Leadership Conference on Friday, March 8, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., SSU Student Union. The full day session includes workshops, luncheon, keynote speaker and community awards.

Entitled “Women Embracing and Expanding Global Leadership,” the conference will recognize and promote the skill sets needed to be successful in today’s global markets. According to the Global Gender Gap Report, compiled by the World Economic Forum in 2016, The United States ranks 45 of 144 countries in terms of overall gender parity while it is ranked first in educational attainment.

Cynthia Blandford will be the keynote speaker. Blandford is the Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Liberia to the State of Georgia. She facilitated a sister airport agreement between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Liberia’s Roberts International Airport. Blandford was also instrumental in enabling Liberia’s first Institute for Public Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). She is president and CEO of Global Strategies for Good, LLC, and president and board chair of the University Consortium for Liberia’s 501c3 organization, which collaborates with 17 institutional partners to provide study abroad, service learning, student and faculty exchange, and scholarships.
