The American Food Journal, a digital food and travel magazine dedicated to connecting the community to quality restaurants, made a stop in Savannah and gave great local coverage to 1540 Room during their visit. 1540 Room, located in the heart of Savannah’s historic district inside The DeSoto, delivers a locally-sourced culinary experience with an inviting open-kitchen dining room.
The American Food Journal started in D.C. and Maryland, and is now traveling internationally to share their love for flavorful food and delicious finds. On their first trip to Savannah, they raved about 1540 Room’s authentic southern dishes saying, “everything was truly remarkable.”
They reviewed several new dishes, such as: crispy pork belly with apricot lavender compote and Readee’s Bees honey; Pork Shank Osso Bocco with Canewater Farms blue corn grits; Coastal Empire Bouillabaisse with Russo’s Seafood Company shrimp, mussels, crab claws, and scallops; Hunter Cattle Farm filet with white cheddar mac & cheese and peppered bacon-braised collard greens; among others.
