Katrina Bostick, the executive director of Family Promise of Greater Savannah, has been named to the Board of Directors for the United Way of the Coastal Empire. She joins a group of regional leaders dedicated to bolstering the community by allocating funds to local non-profits that help meet needs in Savannah and the surrounding area.

A Savannah native, Bostick has poured her heart into improving her hometown. She ran a successful, family-owned childcare center for 15 years, where she worked with many families from all different backgrounds. While studying for her Bachelors of Social Work from Savannah State in 2014, she began working at Family Promise, then the Interfaith Hospitality Network. This experience changed her understanding of homelessness to something that put children and families on the forefront. She was hired permanently to Family Promise in 2016 and was made director shortly after earning her Masters of Social Work from Valdosta State University in 2015. At Family Promise, Bostick puts her passion for homeless children and families to work, giving them resources to build independent lives.

Through partnerships, long-term planning, and wise investment of donor contributions, United Way supports 92 programs at 58 nonprofit agencies within three impact areas: education, income and health. United Way is a volunteer-driven organization that involves hundreds of community leaders and professionals in every aspect of our business, including fundraising, marketing, and funding decisions. Bostick will be a welcome addition to the group of local leaders with her personal knowledge of the issues that community residents face.

“It’s such an honor to be included on a board that does so much good throughout the year,” Bostick said. “My role will be to advocate for local nonprofits on the board, giving individual agencies a voice so United Way can be better connected to the people they represent. Savannah has so many incredible nonprofits and I can’t wait to work with them.”
