Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) – Savannah campus will host a Hooding Ceremony for its 2019 graduates at 2 PM, Friday, April 26, in the MUSM building on Memorial Health’s campus. 47 seniors will receive their doctoral hoods in advance of their actual graduation which is on May 4. Dr. Ruthie Crider, a MUSM graduate and now a practicing emergency medicine physician in Statesboro, will be our Hooding speaker. 87% of the graduates from all three Mercer campuses will continue training next year in a Core specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry) and 38% of them will be in Georgia for residency training.

Twelve members of the class of 2019 will be continuing their residency education at Memorial and Savannah . Five of those students are Accelerated Track Scholars.  The ACT program began as a unique cooperative effort between Mercer and Memorial in an effort to  shorten the time of medical training and place family physicians and internists in the most needed parts of Georgia.
