Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, April 19th, 2019

The Savannah Philharmonic Chorus is slated to present “Frost on Leaves of Grass” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts, 32 Abercorn St., Savannah.

This captivating concert features the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus singing pieces centered on uplifting themes written by two legendary American poets, Walt Whitman, author of the famed “Leaves of Grass” poetry collection, and Robert Frost. The evening’s majestic and, at times, even playful repertoire focuses on positivity and will include: Norman Dello Joio’s “Song of the Open Road,” David Conte’s “Invocation and Dance,” Randall Thompson’s choral cycle “Frostiana,” and a second composition by American composer Norman Dello Joio, “A Jubilant Song.” In addition to the chorus, the music will feature our collaborative pianist, Mac Fogle, as well as an additional pianist, trumpeter and two percussionists. The concert is sponsored by Critz Auto Group.

“The Savannah Philharmonic Chorus is looking forward to presenting an exhilarating selection of songs that highlight the brighter side of life,” Philharmonic Chorusmaster Dr. Matt Caine said. “I think the pieces we’ve chosen will delight our audience, and should leave them feeling hopeful and inspired as the show concludes.”

Tickets for “Frost on Leaves of Grass” are affordably priced at $35 and can be purchased online at www.savannahboxoffice.com or by calling 912-525-5050.
