TEDxSavannah Announces Speakers for 10th Annual Event

TEDxSavannah, an independently organized, day-long event based on the international TED talk phenomenon, has officially announced the speakers for the 10th anniversary event, set to take place on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Yamacraw Performing Arts Center at Esther F. Garrison School of Visual and Performing Arts, located at 649 W. Jones St.

“Our 10th anniversary line-up of TEDxSavannah speakers is incredibly diverse, representing a wide range of experiences and approaches to this year’s Southern Moment.um theme,” said participating organizer Laura Lee Brocade. “Attendees will hear exciting ideas worth spreading, as well as captivating live performances that will add to the ambiance of the event.”

The 2019 TEDxSavannah list of speakers is as follows:

  • Nola Blackwood – Art Historian and Entrepreneur

  • Caleb Brown – Artist

  • Truck Carlson – Veterans for Clean Water Program Coordinator, Savannah Riverkeeper

  • Tony Foy – Founder and Executive Director, Educate Savannah, Inc.

  • Luke Geiger – High School Student

  • Jalin Alexander Graham – High School Student

  • Patt Gunn – Master Storyteller

  • Heather Joesting – Senior Scientist, Sustainable Aquaponics Research Center, Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus

  • Harrison Scott Key – Author

  • Jessica McBride – Author

  • Elisha Nain – Writer, Empath

  • Greg Parker – Founder and CEO, Parker’s

  • Fayth M. Parks – Psychologist

  • Kim Michael Polote – Vocalist

Each speaker is limited to a maximum of 12 minutes to present an original talk influenced by the theme and of interest to the Savannah community. Each live talk will be filmed and posted on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel following the event.

Guided by a mission to share ideas worth spreading, TEDxSavannah welcomes the public to enjoy live presentations from area residents and official TED Talk videos designed to spark deep discussion  

Tickets are currently on sale for $80, which include seating, a delicious lunch, onsite parking, coffee and snacks during discussion breaks and an invitation to attend the TEDxSavannah after-party, featuring face-to-face interactions with speakers showcased throughout the day.
