Wednesday, July 31st, 2019
Flourish Collaborative, a women-owned creative agency in Savannah, GA has been exclusively contracted to complete rebranding and full interior renovations for the Royal Palms Motel in Tybee Island, GA.
Royal Palms Motel, a 22-room motor hotel built in 1961 and operated under the same family for over 50+ years, is now under new ownership with plans for a welcomed face-lift. The motel is situated along the main street of Tybee Island, GA and has been host to young families and couples who vacation to Savannah’s beach year after year. Local creative agency Flourish Collaborative will be spearheading the interior design as well as new branding for the motel and planned F&B concept.
Flourish Collaborative offers full-service interior design alongside business-minded creative services such as branding, graphic design, and content creation. Staying true to its namesake, Flourish intends to implement collaborative design solutions to create a space that frequent travelers, locals, and potential travelers to Tybee can all enjoy and feel welcome.
The new branding will reinstate the motel's original name, "Royal Palms Motel", as a way of paying homage to its history while freshly reinventing the well-known island landmark.
Renovations are expected to begin during the Winter season of 2019, with plans of a grand reopening in the Spring of 2020. The refresh includes a complete branding for the motel and a reimagining of all interior and exterior spaces to provide guests a level of amenities and services unique to Tybee's current lodging options.
"We want the new design to bring something new and fresh to the island but still feel very much at home. It's exciting to bring a slightly more elevated experience to Tybee, but still make it a place where locals and visitors feel welcome and want to be part of." —Caty Cote, Co-founder of Flourish Collaborative
The branding takes inspiration from the hotel's 1960's history but with a fresh spin, appealing to the well-traveled but still coastal-casual.
"Tybee has a lot to offer in terms of family and couple getaways. It's the anti-stuffy beach destination that welcomes an unbuttoned shirt and sandy flip flops. Bringing a well-curated lodging experience to Tybee is the first step in encouraging other travelers to skip out on adjacent coastlines and give Savannah's beach the time it deserves." —Erica Kelly, Co-founder
Apart from a fresh face, the new management has plans of bringing the motel's guest experiences up to par with successful boutique lodging concepts across the US. Fun new on-property amenities, daily beach activities for kids, and complimentary beach gear are a few of the add-ons they hope to implement.
The group of local owners spent most of their childhood Summers on Tybee and seek to create a casual, fun-filled environment for their own kids and others to experience.
"The owners are keen on pushing the boundaries of a traditional motel experience. Tybee has such a quirky vibe that deserves to be embraced when it comes to how guests vacation there. Our challenge will be to create something that Tybee Island hasn't done before, but still feels very natural to the existing scene." —Erica K.
