Step Up Savannah Welcomes Elizabeth Simpson as Development Coordinator

Step Up Savannah, a nonprofit focused on promoting economic opportunity and financial security for underserved residents in Chatham County, Ga., is pleased to announce Elizabeth Simpson has joined its team as development coordinator. In her new position, Simpson will work to develop strategic community partnerships and fundraising efforts which align and support Step Up’s mission while providing sustainability to the organization’s critical community programming.
 
Prior to joining Step Up, Simpson served as the executive director of the Okefenokee Heritage Center in Waycross, Ga. where she was responsible for growing community partnerships and working with local businesses and city leaders to further the idea of promoting arts as a method of key economic development in a rural community. Simpson’s experience also includes positions as a language arts educator working with students in middle school and time spent in higher education focused on residential life and career services.
 
While growing up, Simpson traveled the world living in 13 states and four countries with Oklahoma City serving as home base. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and creative writing and a Master of Science in curriculum and leadership development, with a focus on feminist studies and multicultural outreach, from Oklahoma State University.
