Family Promise of Bryan County opens its new location at 177 Spruce St. in Richmond Hill with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. This will be followed by an open house from 5 – 8 p.m. that evening and from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

This new location for Family Promise of Bryan County enables the local non-profit organization to host families in partnership with their host congregations in Bryan County who provide meals and volunteers. The first family will take residence in the new facility the weekend of the open house.

"There are currently 88 children known to be homeless in Bryan County. This new location will allow us to help local families in need," Family Promise Board Chairwoman Chris Hasson said. "We ask that the local community donates housewarming gifts for our shelter such as diapers, paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, detergent, trash bags, and cleaning supplies. We also need financial contributions and volunteers to maintain this home, and are appealing to the community to support our mission of ending homelessness here in Bryan County."

To help contribute to the sustainment of this home, Family Promise of Bryan County asks that families, groups, businesses, or organizations join together to provide rent for a month as a donation of $1,500. This level of contribution will allow Family Promise to pay rent on the new property and provide for the families for one month, so the non-profit has one less worry as they help local families who have fallen on hard times. Donations of furniture and clothing are not required, but can be exchanged for vouchers at Goodwill.
