Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI) is proud to announce they are the recipient of a $5,000 grant  from Glick Philanthropies to help fund a vehicle for the organization’s Meals on Wheels program. SCI was one of 66 organizations in 11 states to receive funding from Glick Philanthropies’ Helping Those in Need annual grant program.

“Our Meals on Wheels program will greatly benefit from having an additional vehicle to more efficiently deliver daily meals to our clients,” said Patti Lyons, SCI President. “We are so grateful for Glick Philanthropies’ continued dedication to helping people have access to basic needs like nutritious food and socialization, which is what our Meals on Wheels program is all about.”

The grants are given to support organizations focused on providing basic needs, including food, transportation, clothing and emergency shelter. The annual grant program, previously known as Feeding Those in Need, is part of a broader Glick Philanthropies effort to build community and create opportunity. While the program originally focused on food insecurity, Glick Philanthropies expanded it this year to ultimately help families meet a variety of competing and pressing needs. This year’s grant announcement coincides with World Food Day, a global day of action centered around hunger.
