Savannah State University (SSU) will celebrate homecoming in a football game with old rival Albany State University on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. at T.A. Wright Stadium. Gates open at 1:30 p.m.

University officials have implemented several strategies to promote a safe and festive atmosphere for game-day participants, which include controlled access to campus, traffic flow and parking and the use of clear bags at the stadium for the football game.

“Homecoming is a very busy time on campus and we want to make sure Tigers, fans and supporters celebrate safely without inconvenience. We are encouraging everyone to adhere to our clear bags only protocol inside T.A. Wright Stadium,” said Ulysses Bryant, SSU’s interim chief of police. “Those persons going to the game may use their own clear bags, or purchase them on campus.”

Football tickets can be purchased online at www.ssuathletics.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase at Tiger Arena on Friday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., and at T.A. Wright Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26, beginning at 10 a.m.

Gate Access Information for Oct. 26

LaRoche Avenue gate will close at 7 a.m.

Jasmine Avenue will be a one-way entrance only from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Falligant and Whatley avenue gates will be open for entry and exit throughout the day.

Parking

Campus parking is $15 per vehicle. Vehicles with valid student or faculty/staff decals are permitted to park for free.

Tiger Arena East and West lots and the Student Union lot will be closed to the public on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Parking at the University Village lot, near Building 2, will be closed beginning Friday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m.

Vehicles will not be able to enter or exit the University Village lot on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Tailgating

Wristbands are required for anyone over the age of seven to enter the designated tailgating area.

Wristbands are included with the purchase of game tickets, season tickets or tailgating spots.

Free wristbands are available for SSU students with a valid student ID.

On game day, wristbands are available for purchase, $5 each, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., at T.A. Wright Stadium, near the home ticket booth.
