The Lowcountry Annie Oakleys raised a record high of more than $300,000at its annual charity clays tournament last October at Forest City Gun Club. Funds raised were distributed to three nonprofits to help improve the health of at-risk children in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry communities. The three beneficiaries were CURE Childhood Cancer, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire, and United Way of the Coastal Empire.

Each organization received $108,000, $108,000, and $54,000 respectively after expenses.

Over the past five years, the organization has raised $1 million to directly support local nonprofits in its efforts to improve children’s health. “We’re grateful for the generous support from corporate sponsors and individuals to participate in this tournament,” said Co-Chair Nancy Thomas. “The funds that were raised were significant, but what’s more important is the impact of the contributions to the lives of at-risk children in our community.”
