Raymond Clarke has been named vice president for enrollment management at Savannah State University (SSU). In this role, Clarke is responsible for the leadership and management of the university’s enrollment efforts managing the admissions, financial aid and registrar offices.

“Increasing enrollment is a top priority for the university,” SSU Interim President Kimberly Ballard-Washington said. “We’re pleased to have Mr. Clarke join our executive leadership team to develop strategies for recruiting and retaining students. In his role, he will work to ensure the enrollment process is an efficient and seamless experience.”

Clarke has more than 15 years of experience working in higher education. Most recently, he served as the chief consultant at his own firm, specializing in enrollment management services for Historically Black Colleges & Universities nationwide.

Previously, Clarke served as a financial aid counselor, a scholarship compliance coordinator, assistant director of financial aid, associate director of financial aid and associate vice chancellor for enrollment management at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Clarke has been involved in several professional organizations including the Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Louisiana Student Financial Aid Advisory Commission, National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and American Association for Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Lincoln University – Missouri and a master’s degree in public administration from Southern University and A&M College. He also holds certificates in Strategic Enrollment Management from American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers and in Enrollment Management and Institutional Marketing from Walden University. Clarke is currently pursuing his doctorate in public policy.
