Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people age successfully, is pleased to announce the hiring of Jessica Mathis as recreation therapist at Ruth Byck Adult Day Health Center and the promotion of Marshernell Walker to admissions coordinator.

Mathis will create and implement wellness-based programming with the goal of preserving and maintaining positive self-esteem, range and mobility, healthy social interactions, and mental agility for the center’s clients. Prior to coming to SCI, Mathis served as the volunteer coordinator and activity therapist for Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah. She is a licensed recreational therapist and nationally certified therapeutic recreation specialist. Mathis has a B.A. in recreation therapy from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and a master’s degree in parks, recreation, and tourism management from Clemson University.

Walker will work with clients, social workers, and case managers during the admissions process to facilitate services needed and follow up to ensure care is navigated to best serve the client.  Before serving as SCI’s guest coordinator, she most recently worked with One Call Care Management as a referral coordinator assisting injured workers with compensation referrals and ensuring workers were able to successfully return to work.
