On Monday, February 10th, members of the Jenkins High School community gathered with Board members, district staff and project partners to officially break ground on the new ESPLOST-funded Jenkins High School facility.   Construction crews are hard at work on the replacement school that will have room for 1,375 students.

The new Jenkins High will be a two-story, 239,000 square foot building that will replace the current facility which opened in the late 1950’s.  Located directly behind the existing school, the new facility will feature a gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, shooting range, energy labs with solar panels and a media center.  There will be 74 instructional spaces including 37 classrooms, 2 engineering labs, 10 science labs and 3 computer labs.  Additionally, the new school’s athletic facilities will include a wrestling room, baseball field, softball field, practice football field and tennis courts.

The building is projected to be ready to welcome students for the 2021-22 School Year.
