Optim Medical Center-Screven is pleased to welcome its new Chief Executive Officer Suzanne Doscher, FACHE, bringing with her more than 30 years of health care experience and a commitment to patient-centered high-quality care.
Doscher took the helm in late November after serving as CEO at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in her native South Carolina for a number of years. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and earned her Bachelors of Science and Master’s in Healthcare Administration degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina.
As CEO, Doscher will oversee Optim Medical Center-Screven’s hospital and clinic operations, with an emphasis on growing the services offered and continuing the strong focus on clinical and service excellence for the patients and families in and around Screven County.
“This opportunity matched the very thing I was looking for and I am honored to join such a strong team to provide compassionate, quality-driven care to the patients we are privileged to serve,” Doscher says.
Doscher began her career in health care as a medical technician, wherein she developed a strong base of clinical knowledge and provided a lasting commitment to caring for patient’s needs on the front lines. Doscher later joined administration when a hospital CEO and mentor encouraged her to apply her skills and passion a hospital leader, elevating the level of care at the facilities she has served and motivating those around her in the process.
Doscher describes her leadership style as one of encouragement, serving as the motivator for the many clinicians, physicians and associates who partner as a team in making a health care organization successful.
“My primary objective as a leader it to help build other people up and help them understand where we can grow together,” Doscher says. “I like to think that I’m the head booster and the head mentor to get us where we need to go.”
She takes the lead at Optim Medical Center-Screven during a pivotal time of growth as the hospital is investing in facility upgrades and has recently re-opened the newly constructed Optim Primary Care-Millen Clinic. Optim Medical Center-Screven provides a range of services to local residents and visitors, designed to give the families of Screven, Millen, and surrounding counties access to many of the same high-quality healthcare services found in larger hospitals and clinics but close to home, without the burden of travelling out of town.
Services available at Optim Medical Center-Screven include 24/7 emergency care, full-time family medicine and internal medicine services, orthopedics, pulmonology, general surgery, interventional pain management, physical and occupational therapy, cardiology, endoscopy and ophthalmology extended care swing bed services, and more.
Doscher says what she loves most about the hospital is the team atmosphere and family environment among its associates and the close relationships with the physicians who practice at the hospital and clinics. Many of the employees have worked at the facility for decades, and the physicians are all dedicated to making Optim Medical Center-Screven a successful and valuable part of their community.
“Everyone enjoys working together and you can see that it really is an Optim family,” Doscher said. “It’s special to work in an environment where there is such a close relationship with physicians. It truly benefits the patients and elevates the level of care we provide.”
When she’s not busy running a hospital and motivating others, Doscher says she loves getting outdoors with her 7-year-old boxer, Pita. The pair enjoy exploring and hiking the many state parks in the region together. Doscher says she is honored to be part of the Optim Team and receive such a warm welcome from associates at the hospital and the residents of Screven County.
“I’m excited about the things we are going to accomplish together as a team,” Doscher adds. “We are committed to doing all we can to not just maintain, but strengthen this hospital being a long-term part of the community.”
