As concerns escalate regarding the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) the Savannah African Art Museum (SAAM) continues to follow local, state, and national protocols. On Thursday, March 19, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson declared a local state of emergency mandating that “All sightseeing, guided and/or narrated tours must stop operations.” Following local protocol, the SAAM will remain closed to the public through April 8, 2020 unless stated otherwise by the Mayor’s office. Museum exhibits, galleries, and tours are closed at this time and all public programs and outreach efforts have been put on immediate hold.
“We are committed to safeguarding health and safety and appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to assist our community in staying safe and well,” said Executive Director, Billie Stultz. “We are grateful for the community’s continued support and we wish everyone good health during these stressful times.”
