Savannah River Spring Classic Tournament Postponed
Staff Report From Savannah CEO
Monday, March 16th, 2020
The 13th annual Savannah River Spring Classic Fishing Tournament has been postponed due to unknown factors associated with ongoing improvements at the Houlihan Boat Landing in Port Wentworth. A firm construction schedule has not been released, and tournament organizers are concerned the landing may not be ready in time for the tournament.
The tournament, which raises funds for the Military Order of the Purple Heart Association, Chatham County auxiliary, will be rescheduled for a later date. Once a new plan has been confirmed and a date decided on, event organizers will release details and re-open registration. Anyone who has already registered and paid will have their registrations honored at the rescheduled tournament.
The tournament is part of Port Wentworth’s larger celebration, Stand Up for America Day, which includes live music, food, free children’s rides and activities, fireworks and visits from military members. At this point, no announcement has been made regarding any changes in the plan for Stand Up for America Day. Currently, it is still slated for Saturday, April 25, 2020.
