Family Promise of Effingham Launches Adopt-a-Room Fundraiser
Staff Report From Savannah CEO
Tuesday, April 14th, 2020
Family Promise of Effingham County's current "Family Promise House" has been dutifully serving our program participants, clients and staff for 2 years.
Due to natural wear and tear over the years and limited funds, the rooms in our house could use some upgrades; this includes the very well-worn furniture, most of which was second-hand and no longer functional or adequate to meet clients' needs. We're putting forth a concentrated effort to improve our space, and that will include sprucing up the rooms and replacing some of the furniture in them.
Family Promise is paying to freshen up the house with needed repairs and improvements, but we hope our supporters will help us in procuring new furniture, which will improve both the quality of life for our residents and the quality of the rooms themselves. To accomplish this, we're inviting the community to "adopt a room" inside the Family Promise House.
The cost of "adopting" a room is $675, which will cover much-needed furniture for each space. We have five rooms that need to be furnished. Family Promise would like to place a plaque for each room recognizing the adopter, naming the room in honor or in memory of someone to show our gratitude. Don’t have $675 but want to support the cause? No worries, we will gladly combine smaller gifts together to fund a room; or maybe a family, Sunday school class/small group or church would like to “adopt a room” together.
Family Promise of Effingham County will be launching the "Adopt a Room" fundraiser online, with a special focus on social media. We'll encourage our account followers to share the fundraiser using the hashtag #FPEadoptaroom so others can see the initiative taking hold in the online community. The idea is to spur on the campaign as more people realize it’s a simple way to offer support at a very difficult time.
