IVolunteer International is a 501(c)3 tech-nonprofit registered in Savannah, Georgia with the vision of “creating 7 billion volunteers.” Since 2017, IVolunteer International has connected volunteers to volunteer projects in their local communities around the world, empowering individual people to create and connect to social impact projects in their communities.
Shopping Angels is a program designed to provide services to those populations deemed especially at-risk for the novel COVID-19 virus that is spreading throughout the United States. To help ease the uncertainty, anxiety, and fear surrounding this pandemic, Shopping Angels volunteers are contributing their time to personally deliver groceries or other shopping necessities to those who may prefer to stay within the safety of their own home at no additional cost.
Shopping Angels has become very successful over the last month and has gathered over $40,000 in donations on GoFundMe and has garnered nation-wide support and has been featured on CNN, Fox News, Today, and Global Citizen. To make the volunteer-matching process faster and more efficient, IVolunteer International partnered with Shopping Angels and developed a web-page that matches volunteers and those who need help automatically via email. The website is now live for anyone who needs groceries delivery support and to anyone who is willing to help. Visit https://shoppingangels.ivint.org/ to sign-up to help or get help.
“We believe that individual people have the power to create change. That is why we partnered with Shopping Angels to provide our expertise to automate their vision, so we can serve more people faster and more efficiently,” said Nipuna Ambanpola, Executive Director of IVolunteer International.
IVolunteer International will monitor matches. If this start-up phase is successful, IVolunteer International, together with Shopping Angels will expand this web-service nationwide, helping approximately over 60 million Americans who are deemed to be in the at-risk population during the COVID-19 pandemic.
