200 Club Cancels the Savannah Mile
Staff Report From Savannah CEO

The Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire has announced the cancellation of its largest fundraiser of the year, the Savannah Mile, due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Held annually on Memorial Day weekend, the Savannah Mile typically is a time for the entire community to come together under the Two Hundred Club’s mission of giving 100 percent to the families of fallen first responders within their service area.
The Two Hundred Club relies on fundraising events, memberships and donations as they strive to care for the surviving family members of those who care for us. The Mile raises a majority of the funds the club relies on to continue its work, so without that event, there is a major depletion in financial resources to honor the fallen and their loved ones.
“We know it is a trying time for everyone across our nation. Given what is happening, we need to support families of the fallen and our area first responders more than ever. We are extremely saddened to have to cancel our most popular event, and the revenue lost is unprecedented,” Two Hundred Club President Mark Dana said. “We will truly miss seeing so many of our friends and supporters at the Savannah Mile; there’s always such a feeling of camaraderie and true compassion during the race. Until we can all come together again, our club is appealing to the community to recognize and support our efforts by joining the Two Hundred Club or making a one-time contribution.”
