Family Promise Giving Day is April 21st
Friday, March 26th, 2021
Family Promise of the Coastal Empire, an organization that works to prevent and end family homelessness locally, is partnering with Family Promise National and its network of over 200 affiliates nationwide to hold a digital awareness event on April 21, 2021.
Family Promise Giving Day is a 24-hour online giving campaign to raise awareness and funds for the nonprofit entity, which believes that a future begins at home. Preventing a family in need from becoming homeless is the most effective way to address the crisis of family homelessness. Today, families battling homelessness need help more than ever. Through prevention and diversion initiatives, Family Promise and its supporters can help prevent families from experiencing homelessness and help those who do find alternatives to traditional shelters.
Family Promise of the Coastal Empire will participate in the campaign, and a generous anonymous donor has pledged to match the amount raised online up to $10,000. Family Promise’s accomplishments in the Coastal Empire last year include:
-
In 2020, Family Promise of the Coastal Empire disbursed over 1 million dollars to the tri-county community. This helped households with rental, utility, and mortgage assistance.
-
In 2020, we served a total of 228 individuals in our shelter programs. This included 167 in Chatham County, 23 in Bryan County, and 38 in Effingham County.
-
About 21 percent of the city’s population is living below the federal poverty line or 1 in 5 families.
“Please tell your friends and family about Family Promise Giving Day. Making just one social media post or changing your profile photo to include a Family Promise frame would help so much in our quest to raise awareness and some badly needed funds,” Family Promise of the Coastal Empire Executive Director Katrina Bostick said. “A donation of any amount – no matter how big or small – helps the most vulnerable residents right here in our community. It stays here, and it works. Ensuring a child has a stable home is the strongest way to ensure that he or she grows up to have a bright future and becomes an upstanding citizen. Please consider helping.”
