C.A. Murren & Sons Company, Inc. recently started the civil work associated with the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center Project.
Over the next couple of years, Murren will be completing the site demolition, underground utilities, grading, permanent sheet pile wall, concrete flatwork, and asphalt paving for this project.
This project is being delivered under a subcontract to Clark Construction Group, LLC based in Bethesda, Maryland. Murren’s scope of work is a portion of the overall $271 Million expansion which will double the Convention Center’s exhibit hall space to 200,000 square feet, add a 58-foot-wide hangar door, a 40,000 square foot ballroom, 15 additional meeting rooms, and a 900-space parking garage.
“We are excited about the opportunity to participate in another project which is vital to accommodate the growth of our city. We are also proud to have a permanent presence in the region which allows us to continually contribute to the employment of the local workforce,” said Pitch Powers, Murren’s Division Manager overseeing its regional operations.
This project adds to Murren’s recent project portfolio in the Savannah Market which includes projects such as the Elba Island Liquefaction Project, the Pennsylvania Avenue Neighborhood Resource Center, the GCT General Paving Improvements Project at Georgia Ports, the Thompson Hotel at Eastern Wharf, the Savannah Arena Project, and the Kings Bay Dry Dock Recapitalization Project.
