Horizons Savannah is calling on the entire community to continue supporting Savannah’s youth during this period of recovery by participating in its annual Horizons Giving Day on Wednesday, May 12th. 

The program has seen proven success for over 19 years in closing the “opportunity gap” for under-resourced students over summer break. Horizons Savannah continues to partner with youth, their families and the community to enrich the lives of students with the joy of learning, the skills for success and the inspiration to realize their dreams. 

How prolonged school closures will affect students is yet to be seen, but it is nonetheless evident that this is a challenging time to be a school-aged child. Throughout, Horizons Savannah has adapted to provide innovative ways to engage students in educational activities, help build social and emotional resilience, and deliver resources to the community with the goal of closing gaps that are ever widening in the wake of the barriers schools have faced for over a year. 

After a virtual experience in 2020, Horizons Savannah will resume traditional in-person programming for the summer of 2021 in adherence with CDC and local guidance. 

Funds raised during Giving Day 2021 will support this summer program, featuring engaging academics, social-emotional learning and swim lessons for every child, as well as continued engagement with Horizons Savannah students throughout the year.  

Two Savannah businesses have partnered with Horizons in offering give-back specials to encourage participation in this day of giving. These exclusive opportunities include: 

• Papa Murphy’s will donate 25 percent of every carry-out order made on Wednesday, May 12th, by customers who say they support Horizons Savannah;

• Ghost Coast Distillery will host a "Ghost Coast Gives Back" benefit concert for Horizons Savannah on Saturday, May 15th, from 4 - 7 p.m. featuring live music from the Mandrakes and a BowTie Barbecue food truck.
